When i first saw this trick, let me just say i was impressed. It was a great routine , it involved the audience and at the same time has a good potential for scripting a story behind the whole performance. I simply could not explain how this was being done or the method involved primarily due to the presentation skills of Mr Jim Tyler. He has an amazing patter and a flawless presentation method which is extremely important for this trick. 

This being said, i must warn those magicians out there that you will have to put in some effort , some work and most of all practice. This is not one of those tricks which for someone new into magic will have an easy time perfecting. Currently i also perform The Enigma by Paulino Gil and Luis De Matos and i thought that this would go extremely well with that routine. Let me break down the dynamics of this trick into the 4 essential components of any magical effect:

Effect:

Ring is threaded into a string and shown to the audience. The ring disappears and reappears 4 times during this routine. Finally, it appears into an envelope that the audience has been holding on to the entire time. Everything is examinable with some creativity.

Method:

The method is relatively straightforward however it requires work, and will involve watching slowing down and rehearsing the moves a number of times before it looks flawless.If your into quick gimmicks for a quick trick , then this is not for you. It will take skill and determination to get this down and get it down well.

Presentation:

Mr Jim's presentation is well thought of and fits very well with the overall routine, there are some presentations on this dvd which i will remove from my own act , however the routine is great. I also believe there are a number of presentation options and creating a little story line around this effect is great.I like having this option open so i can make it personal to my own personality and characteristic.

Design:

Some of the most mind boggling effects happen with simplicity of design, nothing complicated about the gimmicks and components. I did break one of the leather laces in practice, but they also provide one more just in case. i would imagine this lace is easily available at at store. You can use whatever you like as long as the handling feels good in your own hand. 

My summary:

I love Effects that pack a big impact which i can of course carry around in my pocket, i love it even more when i can fit it flawlessly with another routine involving similar items. This effect is a good effect, its a crowd pleaser , very little or no angle issues and also offers something very unique. Its also a great effect when you have more than one person, and plays well for a table setting. The gimmicks itself are ok, they are as i mentioned easily replaceable. I must stress on the importance of the patter and the importance of practice. Once again magicians looking for a quick trick or beginner magicians will have to consider this before purchasing this effect.
